Lebanon’s emerging paytech startup, Wink Pay, has forged strategic alliances with digital payment behemoth Visa and banking solutions expert Codebase Technologies to introduce the country’s inaugural fully digital instant card issuance service for Visa prepaid virtual cards.
Wink Pay’s debut aims to bolster financial inclusion across Lebanon by providing citizens with a secure and transparent platform to manage their local and international transactions without the need for a traditional bank account. The initiative particularly targets underserved communities and rural areas.
Offering a suite of features including virtual card personalization tools, card-loading agent location tools, and eKYC (electronic Know Your Customer) verification, Wink Pay strives to enhance accessibility and convenience for users.
Mario Makary, Visa’s Vice President for the Levant region, lauds Wink Pay’s new virtual card offering for empowering customers to swiftly create and access digital payments, thereby significantly enhancing the overall customer experience. Leveraging Visa’s robust global payments infrastructure and advanced fraud prevention capabilities ensures utmost security and peace of mind for users.
Meanwhile, Dubai-based Codebase Technologies has been tapped for its cloud-native, API-first digital banking solution, Digibanc, which will serve as the technological backbone for Wink Pay’s offerings.
Wink Pay joins a growing roster of financial institutions partnering with Codebase Technologies to leverage its cutting-edge banking tech solutions. Notably, Bahrain Commercial Facilities Company recently unveiled a new lending app developed in collaboration with Codebase Technologies and Atyaf eSolutions. Similarly, Pakistan’s Raqami Islamic Digital Bank has also recently embraced Codebase Technologies to harness its Digibanc platform.
