CIMB Bank has introduced a new contactless payment solution for electric vehicle (EV) charging in collaboration with JuiceUP, a subsidiary of PAIDChain, and Visa.

This initiative aims to simplify the payment process for EV owners by allowing them to use their debit or credit cards at charging stations, eliminating the need for EV-specific apps.

The partnership between CIMB, JuiceUP, and Visa ensures a seamless and convenient charging experience, which is expected to encourage more people to consider electric vehicles as a sustainable transportation option.

As part of this exclusive partnership, CIMB credit and debit cardholders will receive up to 15% off charging services at EVPower stations. This offer is designed to make charging more affordable and accessible for the growing number of EV users through the EVPower Charging Network.

CIMB is also offering comprehensive EV financial solutions to promote the adoption of EVs in Malaysia. These include preferential auto financing rates, discounts on motor insurance, and an exclusive offer for successful applicants of their EV financing. Eligible applicants will receive a complimentary EVPower EV+ membership, RM300 charge credits, a 10% extra wallet reload bonus, and subsidized idle fees. Additionally, customers can benefit from a RM1,500 discount on a 22-kW Home Wall Charger from EVPower.

Effendy Shahul Hamid, Chief Executive Officer of Group Consumer and Digital Banking at CIMB Group, said, “In line with shifting consumer preferences toward seamless and instant payments, CIMB is pleased to offer a first-in-market contactless payment solution designed to streamline transactions at charge points. This ensures a seamless process for EV users and enhances the overall customer journey. This underscores CIMB’s commitment to advancing sustainable mobility through innovative offerings that elevate the EV ownership experience.”

Benson Lim, Chief Operating Officer of JuiceUP, added, “We are committed to supporting the Malaysian Government’s goal of advancing the adoption of electric vehicles by removing barriers to charging infrastructure and providing innovative solutions that meet the evolving needs of the market. To this end, we are pleased to work with CIMB to offer the contactless payment solution for the convenience of EV users.”
