OpenAI has formed a strategic alliance with Oracle and Microsoft to expand its AI capabilities through Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), integrated with the Microsoft Azure AI platform.

This collaboration aims to bolster OpenAI’s initiatives in AI development, as highlighted in Oracle’s official announcement.

Strengthening AI Capabilities

OpenAI, renowned for its widely used generative AI service ChatGPT with over 100 million monthly users, anticipates leveraging OCI’s robust AI infrastructure. Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, expressed optimism about the partnership, emphasizing OCI’s role in extending Azure’s platform to support OpenAI’s scaling efforts.

Advanced Infrastructure of OCI

Oracle’s Gen2 AI infrastructure is engineered to handle extensive AI workloads, establishing itself as a competitive force in the AI sector. Larry Ellison, Oracle Chairman and CTO, emphasized the strategic significance of this collaboration, noting the growing demand for Oracle’s AI infrastructure. Ellison highlighted OCI as the world’s fastest and most cost-effective AI infrastructure, appealing to industry leaders like OpenAI.

Wide Industry Adoption

OCI’s AI capabilities are already integral to several leading AI innovators across diverse sectors. Companies such as Adept, Modal, MosaicML, NVIDIA, Reka, Suno, Together AI, Twelve Labs, and xAI utilize OCI’s Supercluster for training and deploying advanced AI models. The OCI Supercluster supports large language model (LLM) training with scalability up to 64k NVIDIA Blackwell GPUs or GB200 Grace Blackwell Superchips, connected through ultra-low-latency RDMA cluster networking. These capabilities ensure swift and reliable model training, crucial for applications in generative AI, computer vision, natural language processing, and recommendation systems.
